Q. What are the current Water Conservation measures and schedule?
Q. I have a tree in the front of my property that is dead or dying and needs to be taken down. How do I get it removed?
A. Call the DPW at 508-553-5500 to report your address or the location or the tree. The town will look into the matter and will trim or remove the tree if deemed necessary. The town is only responsible for trees located within the public right-of-way and will follow the guidelines set forth in the Public Shade Tree Law.
Q. How do I get rid of furniture?
A. Each household is allowed to dispose of one piece of large furniture per week for curbside collection. Usable furniture may be donated. Call Goodwill at 888-828-4483 or Salvation Army at 508-799-0528.
Q. I am selling my property and I need a final water/sewer/trash bill for my closing. What do I do?
A. This can be done by completing the steps found below:
- Gather the name of the selling property owner, the buying property owner, the address of the property and the date of the closing.
- Contact the DPW (508-553-5500) and provide the information listed above. We recommend that you contact us as early as possible.
- The DPW will schedule a meter reading 2-3 days before the scheduled closing date.
- The final statement can be picked up at the DPW Administration office once the reading is complete. At this time a fee of $31.00 is due.
Q. Why is my water/sewer bill so high?
A. There may be several reasons: a new rate change, outside water use or internal leaks such as a running toilet or a dripping faucet. Leak Detection and water conservation kits are available free-of-charge from the DPW. Please stop into our administration office or contact us for additional information.
Q. I have a water leak before my shut-off valve. How is the town responsible for these repairs?
A. The town is responsible for the water lines in the road and up to the edge of the property. The property owner is responsible for the water line onto their property and into their house.
Q. How do I get a missing street sign replaced?
A. Call the Department of Public Works Administration Office (508-553-5500) for a sign replacement. Please be aware that some street signs may be under the responsibility of the developer for replacement as the street is not under the custody of the town.
Q. Where can I dispose of grass clippings, leaves and other yard waste?
Q. When will leaves be picked up at curbside?
A. To be announced. For additional information refer to The Curbside Chroncile for more information. These items may also be taken throughout the year to the Beaver Street Recycle Station Tuesday 12:00 to 3:00/Friday and Saturday 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Q. Where do I get a recycling bin?
A. Residents can stop by the Department of Public Works Administration office to pick up a recycling bin. The Public Works Department is located at 257 Fisher Street.
Q. How do I get a street light fixed?
A. Call the Department of Public Works Administration Office at 508-553-5500. Please give the pole number or street address nearest the streetlight and nearest crossroad.
Q. How do I get a water meter installed?
A. Your contractor must call us for a meter installation appointment. Before a meter can be installed we must have the utility ties (measurements for the water line) to the property from the contractor who installed the water line.
