Programming 
|
The Center provides opportunities for fitness, nutrition, outreach, social service coordination, health screening and wellness, educational programs, recreation, socialization, and volunteer programs.

Common Grounds Cafe 
|
The Center hosts the Common Grounds Cafe which serves affordable breakfast and lunches daily. Come by for breakfast at $2 for eggs, pancakes, oatmeal, juice and coffee; from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. An affordable lunch is offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Health Programs 
|
Health programs include:Weekly Blood Pressure Clinics , Partners in Health Safety Evaluation and Grab Bar Program, Podiatry Clinics, Chiropractic Clinics, TOPS Weight Loss Support Group, and a Diabetic Support Group. Our wellness nurse, Nicole Caporizzo also makes home visits for frail, homebound elders.

Fitness Programs 
|
Fitness classes include: Chair Exercise, Tai Chi, Yoga, Zumba Aerobics, Cardio, Tone & Stretch, Beginners Line Dancing, Advanced Line Dancing, and the Trailblazers Walking Club. Bocce and Horse Shoes are played as weather permits. For a schedule check The Franklin Connection.

Professional Services 
|
These include: Barber/Hairdresser, Chair Massage, Legal Clinic, Manicures and Health Insurance counseling (SHINE). Please call for an appointment.

Educational Program 
|
Join us for our Monthly Book Discussion Group, Brain Gamers group, Computer classes, Current Events Discussion group, Italian Conversation group, Knitting Instruction group or Painting Classes.

Dial-a-ride services are available through GATRA (Greater Attleboro Taunton Regional Transit Authority) by calling Kiessling Transit at 800-698-7676; Option 2.

Social Activities 
|
The Senior Center hosts a monthly party with a home-cooked meal, entertainment and raffle prizes for $6 per person. We also host a Retired Men's Club, a Red Hat Club, and a Widows and Friends Group.

Ben's Bounty Gift Shop 
|
Come to Ben's and snag some great bargains! Ben's is open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Recreational Activities 
|
The Senior Center hosts many recreational activities including crafts, knitting, quilting, Bocce, Horse Shoes, cards and games, Movies, and a Men's and Women's Pool League.
|
Social Service Coordination 
|
Any senior or disabled resident of Franklin can obtain assistance with accessing benefits and services through various local, state and federal programs by contacting the Social Service Coordinator at the Senior Center. The Social Service Coordinator, Bob Fahey assists seniors and disabled individuals by providing information, referral, and assistance in obtaining benefits. As the cost of prescription drugs continues to rise, seniors have accessed both the Social Service Coordinator and our SHINE (Servicing the Health Information Needs of Elders) counselor in record numbers. The Social Sevice Coordinator also assists with Fuel Assistance and Food Stamp applications, housing and relocation issues, tax abatements and other issues of importance to elders.

Busybees 
|
The Busy Bees Craft Club raise funds by selling hand crafted items at their annual Holiday Bazaar and other local events. This group supports the COA by purchasing equipment and sponsoring various events for the Senior Center.

TRIAD

|
The Franklin TRIAD seeks to reduce the criminal victimization of older citizens and to enhance their awareness of support services. TRIAD is comprised of the Council on Aging, the local Police and Fire Departments and the Norfolk County Sheriffs office. TRIAD offers programs such as the "Are You Okay?" a telephone reassurance program, the File of Life, free medical emergency cards for seniors and the Smoke Detector Program which provides installation of free smoke detectors and/or batteries. TRIAD also distributes a Disability Indicator Form, which provides information about clients disabilities to assist Emergency Response personnel.

Senior Citizen Tax Work Off Program |
Homeowners aged 60 and older are eligible to receive up to $750 in property tax relief through the town's Tax Workout Program. These senior assistants are placed in town departments where their relevant skills and expertise are utilized at a minimal cost to the town. The program provides much needed tax relief to participants. There were 80 positions dedicated to this program in the past year

Newsletter |
The Council on Aging reaches out to seniors through our monthly newsletter, The Franklin Connection, which is mailed out to approximately 2600 senior households each month. The Executive Office of Elder Affairs provides funding for this expense.

The Franklin Senior Center is proud to offer a Supportive Day Program which provides a structured, supevised, and stimulating environment for frail elders, those with mild to moderate dementia or cognitive decline, and those who experience social isolation. The program is designed to encourage independence, socialization, and build self-esteem in participants. A wide range of activities and events are offered including creative projects, gentle exercise, trivia, reminiscence groups, singalongs, social events, games, and field trips. The program is supported with grants from the Metrowest Community Health Care Foundation and the Executive Office of Elder Affairs.
